Chat
Ask questions, hand off tasks, review approvals, and manage conversations.
Chat is the main way to work with Oktapod. Ask the way you would ask a capable assistant: say what you want, what matters, and what it should not do.
What to ask
Answers and research:
What is on my calendar today, and which inbox items look urgent?
Drafts you review first:
Draft a reply to the latest message from Alex and show it to me. Do not send it.
Work that takes more than one reply:
Help me plan the move to the new office. Keep track of the open tasks.
Reminders and recurring work:
Remind me at 4 PM to call the bank.
Every weekday at 9:00, summarize new project activity and suggest follow-ups.
Corrections:
That is wrong. I prefer afternoon meetings.
Oktapod understands requests in any language. It uses your connected apps when a request needs them; if an app is not connected yet, it offers a connection card instead of guessing. See Connect your apps.
What happens after you send
While Oktapod works, the chat shows what it is doing. The reply arrives in the same thread. Longer work continues after the reply and appears under Goals & tasks.
Oktapod separates four things:
- A reply answers or explains. It never changes anything outside Oktapod.
- A proposal is a plan to do something, such as a draft email or a new calendar event. You see it before anything is sent or changed.
- An approval is your yes or no for one proposed action.
- A run is the record of the work: what you asked, what was decided, what ran, and the outcome.
Approvals in chat
When a step needs your permission, an approval card appears in the conversation. It shows the action, where it applies, and its scope. Open Request details to see exactly what will be sent or changed. Then choose:
- Allow once to run this one action.
- Deny to stop it. A denial is final for that action; ask again if you change your mind.
- Always allow <app>, shown for eligible reviewed apps, to stop repeating the same prompt for that app.
Your draft stays in place while you decide. The same approval can be answered from the phone apps or the terminal. See Approvals and safety.
Conversations
- New chat starts a clean conversation. Use it when you change topic.
- History (the toolbar button, or the side panel on wide screens) finds and reopens earlier conversations.
- Each messaging channel has its own conversation. A Telegram chat does not see your web chat, and the reverse.
Attachments
Use the attachment button, paste, or drag files into the composer. Images, PDFs, documents, audio, and video are supported when your model and settings allow them. Send waits until uploads finish. See Files, images, and voice.
Stop or redirect work
Press Stop (or Esc) to stop the reply that is running. To change direction
without starting over, just say so, or use /steer.

From the terminal
The same agent answers from the command line:
oktapod chat "Summarize what needs my attention today."
See Using the CLI.
